Key Stage 4
Psychology is the science of the mind. It allows students to investigate and research the world around us, with particular focus on human nature. The human mind is the most complex machine on Earth, and through Psychology, you will gain the skills to begin to understand it. Students will be able to analyse many fascinating psychological theories and research studies throughout the course.
Do you ever find yourself wondering why some people experience mental health problems and others do not? Or why people obey authority figures even when it means causing harm to others? Have you ever thought about how we communicate through facial expression and body language? Or are you interested in exploring the link between biology and behaviour? Psychology is a subject where these topics and many more can be explored.
Topic areas covered:
Language, thought and communication
Brain and neuropsychology
GCSE Psychology is made up of two examinations, each worth 50% of the overall grade. The first examination paper is ‘cognition and behaviour’ and the second is ‘social context and behaviour’.
