The function of assessment is to enable pupils to demonstrate their learning across different subjects throughout the year and in doing so show where progress is being made and identify areas where improvement is needed. This enables:

1. Teachers to use assessment information to plan appropriate learning activities for their pupils.
2. The school to identify and then share best practice within and across departments.
3. Pupils and parents/carers to be fully aware of pupil progress, and the next steps required for further success
