Absence Procedures
ABSENCE LINES
It remains the legal responsibility of Parents/Carers to report your child’s absence. On the first day of absence, please inform us by 8.15am, using the telephone line as shown below.
Year 7 - 11 01322 463041
Sixth Form 01322 463044
The school will always endeavour to make contact with named parents/carers to determine the whereabouts of a child. If no contact has been established after three days of absence, a home visit may be made to establish the whereabouts and welfare of the child.
After four days of absence, medical evidence may be required.
Encouraging regular school attendance is one of the most powerful ways you can prepare your child for success—both in school and in life. Regular school attendance plays an essential role in your child’s rate of progress and subsequent success. By encouraging your child to attend school regularly and on time, you are helping them develop an understanding of the importance of participation in society, to develop social and emotional skills, achieve better grades, make positive life choices and develop a greater appreciation of belonging to a community.
By making attendance a priority and avoiding regular or sporadic absence, you will help reduce the detrimental impact poor attendance can have, such as limiting their exposure to new-shared experiences and equal opportunities to learn.
For additional information, please refer to the Attendance Policy.
