Library

The Library at Trinity School is available to all members of staff and pupils.

Library Open hours

8am – 4.20 Monday to Friday

8am – 2.30 Friday.

The Library is open at break and lunch time for pupils to do homework, research, change books and read (of course!) As well as books there are newspapers and a wide range of magazines to ensure there is something for everyone.

It aims to support pupils throughout the curriculum as well as encouraging wider reading of both fiction and non-fiction books for pleasure.

Year 7 and 8 pupils have a lesson in the library fortnightly. During these periods they learn how to use the library independently.

Pupils also take part in book discussions, change their library books and spend some time reading.

When there are not regular classes in the library, it is well used by the Sixth Form and by departments for research. It is also used for small groups of pupils, accompanied by a Teaching Assistant and individual research with permission from the class teacher.

There is a separate Sixth Form section in the Library for AS and A Level resources. A number of periodicals which support the Sixth Form curriculum are also available. There is also a section for Careers Information.

The Library also runs quizzes and competitions throughout the year to promote books and events. Our latest Quiz to promote the Harry Potter books saw four lucky pupils winning complimentary cinema tickets to see the Deathly Hallows (part 1) film at Cineworld.

Homework Club

This takes place on Wednesday lunchtimes for Year 7 pupils only. There is a member of the Teaching staff in addition to Library staff, so help is available for pupils if required. All the resources can be used and work can be completed on the computers.

Breakfast Club

This takes place every morning from 8.00am until school begins for all pupils. The Library is open for homework, study, reading and research. You can relax in a calm and tranquil environment and chill out before the hubbub of the school day.

Lego Club

Takes place Tuesdays after School and is very popular. We have some very talented Lego builders amongst us!

Reading Club

Takes place once a week, usually on a Monday lunch time and is open to all year groups. We discuss books, Shadow Book Awards, and take part in other book related activities.

Write Path

For the past two years the Library has taken part in the Write Path. This is a collaborative writing project, which involves 10 to 12 pupils from year 7 & 8, who write stories, started by famous Authors, and contributed to by pupils from schools all over the world. The stories are then published in a book. (Write Path Photos)

Resources

New resources are added to the library regularly, both fiction and non-fiction. These are on display so that pupils are aware of the new stock that has been added. Magazines are also available which can be read in the Library.

Computers

There are several computers within the library, for research and homework.

The Library is here for pupils,
so we hope that new pupils will make good use of it.
