    Library

The Library at Trinity School is available to all members of staff and pupils.

    Library Opening hours
    8am – 4.00 Monday to Thursday
    8am – 1.00 Friday.

The Library is open at break and lunch time for pupils to do homework, research, change books and read (of course!) As well as books there are a wide range of magazines to ensure there is something for everyone.

It aims to support pupils throughout the curriculum as well as encouraging wider reading of both fiction and non-fiction books for pleasure.

When there are not regular classes in the library, it is well used by the Sixth Form and by departments for research. It is also used for small groups of pupils, accompanied by a Teaching Assistant and individual research with permission from the class teacher.

There is a separate Sixth Form section in the Library for AS and A Level resources and a small section for Careers Information and University prospectuses.

The Library runs quizzes and competitions throughout the year to promote books and events, such as the Dr who quiz and the Trinity Crime Scene Investigations.

    Reading

Reading is an important skill, and as with all skills, needs to be practiced. Through reading we learn about the world around us, how to structure our own writing and we develop a wider vocabulary and understanding.

The Library works closely with the English Department especially with the Year 7 & 8 Reading Challenge, which helps to determine reading levels and monitor progress throughout the year. The 'Know your Reading Levels' poster and suggested books for the Reading Challenge can be found below.

Pupils can access the Library catalogue, Eclipse (https://u016348.microlibrarian.net) here, to view their current loans etc and check to see what books they would like to read next.

    Homework Club

This takes place on Wednesday lunchtimes for Year 7 pupils only. This is a quiet time, and with restricted access, a computer can usually be guaranteed!  With a small prize for every 5 visits, year 7 pupils are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and get into the habit of using the facilities to get their homework done.

    Breakfast Club

This takes place every morning from 8.00am until school begins for all pupils. The Library is open for homework, study, reading and research.

    Lego Club

Takes place Tuesdays after school and is very popular. We have some very talented Lego builders amongst us!

    Resources

New resources are added to the library regularly, both fiction and non-fiction. These are on display so that pupils are aware of the new stock that has been added. Magazines are also available which can be read in the Library. Book suggestions are always welcomed.

Please click here to view 'Books for Keeps' - the children's book magazine online.

    Computers

There are several computers within the library, for research and homework.

The Library is here for pupils,
so we hope that everyone will make good use of it.
